On June 26, a delegation of 27 students from the Hong Kong Secondary School Guangxi Study Tour (hereafter referred to as the “delegation”) visited the School for an exchange program and toured the Large-Scale Structural Testing Platform. The delegation was received by Professor Yu Bo, Vice Dean of the School.

At the exhibition hall of the Large-Scale Structural Testing Platform, Professor Yu Bo provided the delegation with a detailed introduction to several representative long-span arch bridges in China, including the Hejiang Yangtze River Bridge, Pingnan Third Bridge, and Tian’e Longtan Grand Bridge. He highlighted the key technological innovations and breakthroughs in their design and construction, giving the delegation a thorough understanding of the latest developments in long-span arch bridge engineering.

Professor Yu also introduced the School’s contributions to three pilot projects of the Pinglu Canal. He explained how research teams from our world-class Civil Engineering discipline provide critical technological support in canal lock and bank construction, earthwork resource utilization, and ecological protection, demonstrating the practical impact of our academic research.
This exchange provided the delegation with an in-depth view of the School’s achievements in research platforms, technological innovation, and contributions to regional development. It also offered a valuable opportunity for participants to experience the college’s development and observe technological progress up close. The visit was interactive and engaging, and many delegation members expressed that the experience sparked a strong interest in civil engineering while deepening their understanding of Guangxi University.
The activity was organized by Hong Kong Bauhinia Magazine, the China Education Exchange (Hong Kong & Macao) Center, and Datong Publishing Media Company, with participation and accompaniment by officials from our Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (International Student Services Center) and other relevant departments.
