Water resources and hydropower engineering

The Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering major is a national characteristic major, which has been selected as a first-class major in the "Double Ten Thousands Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and has been awarded the first batch of autonomous region level first-class professional construction points. Its discipline has doctoral and master's degree authorization points in the first level discipline of water resources engineering. This major relies on high-level disciplinary platforms such as the "211 Project" national key construction discipline of structural engineering and the development of water resources in the Hongshui River Basin, the national experimental teaching demonstration center of civil engineering and construction engineering, the key laboratory of engineering disaster prevention and structural safety of the Ministry of Education, the key laboratory of Guangxi disaster prevention and engineering safety, and the small highland of Guangxi engineering disaster prevention and structural safety talents to cultivate senior talents in water conservancy and hydropower. A complete "undergraduate -- postgraduate -- doctoral" talent training system has been established. Professional training aims to cultivate students to master the basic principles and skills of water conservancy and hydropower engineering design, and possess the ability to design, construct, and manage water conservancy and hydropower engineering.

The main courses include: theoretical mechanics, material mechanics, structural mechanics, soil mechanics, engineering geology, surveying, hydraulic engineering drawing, hydraulics, engineering hydrology, water resources planning and utilization, hydraulic reinforced concrete structures, hydraulic structures, hydropower stations, hydraulic engineering construction, hydraulic engineering economics, and engineering project management. Graduates can work in production and management departments, schools, and research institutions in the fields of water conservancy engineering, civil engineering, and similar disciplines, engaging in engineering surveying, design, construction, management, teaching, and research.

ABOUT US

The School of Civil Engineering and Architecture was formerly the Department of Civil Engineering of Guangxi University and one of the largest engineering departments of Guangxi University. When the University of Guangxi was added to the School of Engineering in September 1932, the Department of Civil Engineering was established as the first department of engineering.
